Unsourced claims

[edit]

The assertion that "According to Forbes, Birchbox, which is arguably the most recognizable service and valued at a reported $485 million in April, 2014", is not backed by any references. I am now first going to mark it with the template Template:Citation needed, but if it is not corrected soon it may need to be deleted.(talk) user:Al83tito 15:20, 20 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The 'Enviromental effects' section needs improving

[edit]

The Netflix example is not very helpful here, as it is not an example of a subscription box. Comparing its relative enviromental impact to DVD shipping isn't really the best way to illustrate the claim that "Shipping goods over long distances require energy, however the energy used to send subscription boxes is not always more than purchasing products locally". It would be more useful to instead provide some statistics estimating the carbon footprint of shipping substcription boxes (assuming these are available). It would also be useful to have some information about the environmental impact of the production of the goods contained in the boxes (e.g. are the materials sustainably sourced, are they recyclable, do they use lots of plastic packaging etc...), especially as I would guess that many subscription boxes keep costs down by using goods produced as cheaply as possible.
