River, Rivet or Rivett?

[edit]

Can someone look into the issue of the correct name for the metalsmith mentioned in the article? It is shown as River, Rivet and Rivett.Myversion (talk) 10:25, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The two sources cited both show "Rivet", while the second source also contains the text of the House of Lords quotation with its archaic spelling, including "Rivett". The earliest version of the article has "River" in the lead paragraph, as well as a typo (a equestrian statue) which hasn't been picked up in subsequent editing - so I presume that the two instances of "River" must also be typos, as that spelling is unsupported by the sources cited - so on that basis, I'll change them to "Rivet". Sorry yes, one of the Times articles listed it as River. Miyagawa (talk) 19:06, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Date of casting

[edit]

Why is the casting date quoted in the article different from the date shown on the plaque in the picture? Which is correct? treesmill (talk) 07:01, 22 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
