Note on declined speedy tag

[edit]

I declined the speedy deletion tag, because this article is not written in a promotional tone, and Wikipedia does seem to have articles on other destinations of airlines, such as Delta Air Lines destinations. I'm not sending it to AfD myself, but if you think this should be deleted, you are welcome to submit it. Is it your claim that this specific article should be deleted, or would you group it with the rest of the articles at Lists of airline destinations? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:00, 2 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks. The page is simply a list of destinations, moved from the main airline article to its dedicated page, as is the case with all airlines with over a dozen destinations. I included the category too. And thanks for linking to the parent. 124x247x221x146 (talk)

Goa vs Vasco da gama

[edit]

According to ICAO location indicator by state, Dabolim airport's location is Goa and not Vasco as it is the only airport in the state. Please see: [[1]]. Thanks never stop flying (talk) 07:04, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • That logic doesn't make sense. This is Wikipedia, with a different set of norms, which state that the destination city is listed. Agatti airport serves all of the Lakshadweep islands - what about its listing then? The Wikipedia norms exist for a reason. Goa is a whole state, with thousands of cities and towns. Besides, as the GOI article will tell you, Dabolim Airport is located in (or very close to) the city of Vasco da Gama, in the State of Goa (Dabolim itself is a tiny village). Just like Babatur Airport is located near (or very close to) the city of Varanasi, in the State of Uttar Pradesh. 124x247x221x146 (talk) 19:18, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The footnote you have included in the article takes us to Airports Authority of India website where it is mentioned that the airport location is Dabolim and not Vasco da gama (despite of the fact that Dabolim is a small village near Vasco town). It is not clear what do you mean by saying that Goa is a whole state. Agatti (ICAO:VOAT) is clearly mentioned in ICAO location indicator by state. In case of Babatur Airport the term Varanasi (ICAO:VIBN) is clearly mentioned in ICAO location indicator by state. However IATA:GOI is more commonly refered as Dabolim airport or simply Goa airport, and never Vasco da Gama airport. never stop flying (talk) 03:25, 5 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Even in the boarding pass as well the place is printed GOA and not VASCO DA GAMA never stop flying (talk) 02:09, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
In all other Airlines and destinations list GOA is mentioned and not VASCO DA GAMA or GOA-VASCO DA GAMA. It is unnecessary as IATA:GOI is the only airport in the state. never stop flying (talk) 02:18, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really know enough about the area in question to answer this, but overall i'd advise just using common sense to reach an agreement. -Marcusmax(speak) 02:54, 6 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I've protected the article again, since our anonymous friend continues to edit-war using several different ips rather than discussing. Anon, there is truly no problem with adding Vasco de Gama to this list, but first, we need to find a source that verifies that's the correct location. Every source we've found simply says 'Goa.' Rather than wasting your time edit-warring, you could help by providing the needed source. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:24, 21 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The one with many IPs seems to have got you all scratching your arses, anyways I thought destinations are listed according to IATA and ICAO ruling here, and not location wise, then start adding Muharraq for Bahrain, as the airport is located there and not Manama not that its listed, what about Seoul the airport is in Incheon so why not list that place instead of Seoul, same goes for other places, which is the area closest to Kuwait Airport?.116.71.13.105 (talk) 14:21, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
