Bias?

[edit]

I'm rather new to the whole Wikipedia scene, but is it not biased to list three specific manufacturers of five-panel snapbacks? In my own opinion if we're going to list companies who make this particular kind of hat then the only way to do so without bias is to list every single one, which is rather impractical.

So should reference to specific manufacturers be removed or kept? 50.72.4.45 (talk) 03:31, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Companies that sell

[edit]

No, it's not good form to add links to websites that sell objects of clothing mentioned in articles. It's just advertising. 180.148.68.222 (talk) 23:25, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Snapback Hats

[edit]

Headwear continues to be very popular and fun in today’s day and age, ranging from several forms of headwear such as hats, caps, beanies, snapbacks, velcrobacks, and strapbacks. Usually, the price range for headwear ranges from anywhere between 75 cents to 10 dollars a hat. They are very accessible to many people and fairly not expensive which satisfies most customers. While headwear is very assessable and fairly cheap, there are a couple styles of hats that are more sought after by many customers out of all of the headwear called the Velcro and Snapback hat. The Snapback hat is more of a stylish headwear that many individuals wear who follow teams, athletes and celebrities; however, the Velcro hat consists of several features such as water resistance, pockets and color blocking. Both hats have their purposes and use.

History

[edit]

Snapbacks have stemmed from devices that are used to provide shade over the eyes of an individual which dates all the way back to the ancient Greeks in 600 BC. In those times, there were similar examples of headwear with the purpose of providing shade to ones face. This means of headwear was also noted that it had a function to embellish with jewels, which showed the status of the individual wearing this headwear and its culture. Much of the headwear worn today, are generally baseball style caps that are worn by many people around the world. The functions of the headwear used in this day and age have not really changed from the purpose of its use in the past. Some caps may be worn for protection by many people, and others may wear these caps to indicate that they are associated with a certain class of people that may also wear the same headwear for example; this can include several celebrities that wear baseball caps or athletes that many of their fans look up to and follow. Many of these people who follow these celebrities and athletes may show their support to the individual that they follow by wearing a certain colour or symbol to represent their team, symbols for possible cancer survivor, team logo on a baseball cap or the clothing brand symbol that the celebrity that they follow has created.

Headwear

Hats have been around for many years. It is typically used to cover ones head from elements such as the sun, with the shaped crown and brim of the hat. In the past, animal skin was pulled over the head as means of protection from certain elements. This came to the realization that covering ones head can at times be an advantage. One of the first representations of a hat dated back in 3200 BC which illustrated a painting on the wall of a man wearing a straw hat in a Thebes tomb. There are several cool features that caps can do that are particularly known as the capping system. This capping system uses the front part of the hat typically the Baseball caps, which is commonly known as the crown with several other decorative types of designs and colours of the brim. A great quintessence of this invention is the ability to change the various parts of the hat. The baseball caps usually comprises of 3 parts which are the Crown, The Brim and The Bill. The Crown of the hat is formed with several panels connected to the apex of the hat. The inner side of the hat that is opposite of the apex is the brim and the thinner circular part close to the brim is the Bill.

Level 3

[edit]

Baseball caps are also a hat that represents a team that many people get in order to support their favourite player. They are worn by all ages, genders and income levels of people. It can be seen anywhere from restaurants, school, parties, malls, the beach and just about anywhere on the streets. They are very comfortable, adjustable and are great to wear on a hot day. It also keeps the sun away and is a great deflector of raindrops.
