The name is misspelled. It should be Sher Afgan (Lion Thrower).

Right! Afgan (افگن, "Thrower") is not Afghan (افغان). The title "Lion Thrower" implies much strength and courage, and has nothing to do with Afghans. Curryfranke (talk) 15:39, 5 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Only the Oxford one appears to be WP:RS. Apparently "Afgan" ("tiger grappler") is supported by Eraly and Chandra, unless it has been miscited [5]. I might look into it later, unless you or someone else wants to beat me to it. HistoryofIran (talk) 03:47, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
