Redskins or Red Skins?

[edit]

Is it "Sheboygan Red Skins", or "Sheboygan Redskins"? The Google News archive seem to suggest that "Redskins" was more common. [1] vs [2]. The Wisconsin Historical Society renders the name as "Redskins", as does the public library in Sheboygan: [3], [4]. Zagalejo^^^ 19:42, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with user Chrishomingtang [5] that Red Skins is probably the correct version. While there are numerous sites that support either of the two spellings, some of the more traditionally reliable sites support Red Skins such as: http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/SHE/ , http://nbahoopsonline.com/History/Leagues/NBL/Standings.html , and http://www.apbr.org/nbaroots.html . Also, it's hard to argue with a visual logo: http://www.logoserver.com/NBLold.html . All the same, it wouldn't hurt to examine some newspaper archives from that time period to confirm. — Myasuda (talk) 00:39, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
