- Names of Russian geo-locations are romanized per the WP:RUS policy.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 17:35, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

- The choice of romanization system is not dependent on the number of google hits. "Shatoy", "Shatoi", "Shatoj", "Šatoj", and many more are all valid spellings, as they are romanizations of the same Russian name "Шатой". As it is impractical to list all possible romanizations in every article, and it is only possible to have one title for any given article, only one romanization system is selected as primary. In case of Wikipedia, it is WP:RUS, which is a slightly modified version of BGN/PCGN romanization of Russian, which, in turn, is the main system used for romanization of Russian geographic names in English. Use of a single primary romanization system allows for standardization and consistency and romanization via that selected system should be used at all times unless major English dictionaries recommend using a different spelling (e.g., "Moscow" instead of "Moskva" or "Saint Petersburg" instead of "Sankt-Peterburg"). Of course, all other spelling variations can (and should) serve as redirects.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 20:35, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
