2/11/1981??

[edit]

I would like to see more information about the radioactive coolant incident that occured on 2/11/1981. 8 people were contaminated, and there needs to be some information regarding what took place. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.53.78.143 (talk) 16:21, 11 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I'd like to see that information put back too. That information used to be part of this article, as can be seen by searching online for the topic. For example, I found this quote attributed to WP:

The first reactor began operation in September 1980, followed by the second a year later. Within months of starting operations, some 420,000 liters of radioactive coolant leaked due to operator error and several workers were exposed to radiation, but the spill was kept inside the containment building. -quoted from thefullwiki

Unfortunately, the copiers didn't see fit to date that copy. (Another quote can be found here.) The missing information was not cited (but could have been: CBS info NYTimes info) which may be why it was removed. Don't have time at the moment to do it.
