Wording
[edit]"Sheckler was born in San Clemente, California. When he was just 18 months old, Sheckler found his dad's old-school skateboard. Sheckler taught
From age 6 on, he has spent up to 22 hours a week practicing tricks in his backyard skate park, which includes a half pipe, table tops and several grind rails. He developed his own trick called the Sheck-lair - an indy kickflip flyout." I think this should be reworded. It sounds fairly pro-Sheckler at some points. quotations should be put around the trick names and I think that the saying he was just 18 months old doesn't really add to the page. "Sheckler taught himself to push it around using one knee, and eventually stood up on the skateboard." This is very specific. It should be cited or removed.

American Skateboarder, motocross rider etc.
[edit]That line doesn't sound right. He is professionally a skateboarder. Riding MX, surfing and snowboarding would probably be considered hobbies. Shouldn't it be in another section of the article instead of the first sentence?
Mrs Sheckler 19:06, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yeah, reword that. --Liface 20:34, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
- I did the best I could. Its still in the first part but I couldn't find another place for the info.. . Mrs Sheckler 20:03, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would suggest leaving it as "an American professional skateboarder". The motor cross rider, surfer, and snowboarder info should be further down. TripleH1976 13:39 p.m., 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Wait... isn't he sponsored in motocross making him a professional MXer? --Liface 23:07, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
- Sponsored doesnt mean pro, it just means someone pays him to ride I guess... I know that sounds like it makes him a pro but I mean tons of AM skaters, mx riders, snowboarders have sponsors. Mrs Sheckler 21:00, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- PS, solved the problem with a Trivia section :) Mrs Sheckler 21:16, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- Needs sources though. --Liface 01:57, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
- How do I cite sources? I mean I know them: For the burns, I guess the source would be his website (he had a pretty long entry about it but then he took it off...); the Volcom Jeans would be the Volcom website; Etnies signature shoes would be Etnies and the hobbies..? I guess I'll try to find a source. Mrs Sheckler 17:07, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Wait, nervermind. I think I know how to cite sources. You put the < ref > and then the link inside it. Mrs Sheckler 17:13, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

Here it says he was born in Long Beach, CA but according to his interview, he's from Diamond Bar, CA....? Mrs Sheckler 16:28, 17 September 2006 (UTC)
Religion
[edit]I read that he's Religious.
- Where did you read that? If we have a reliable source, he can certainly be included in the category/list Mad Jack 01:05, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
- http://www.equityedu.com/Roun-to-Sasq/Ryan_Sheckler.php Read it there, don't know where they got that info from, also read that he went to catholic school so..
in a TWS interview, he said he was Christian —Preceding unsigned comment added by 12.218.10.177 (talk) 13:23, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
New Sheckler Page
[edit]I'm doing my own. Sorry, don't mean to compete. --> Ryan Sheckler (skateboarder) -- Plan B Skater 03:12, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
- The article namespace doesn't really encourage two articles on the exact same person or subject. I encourage you to edit this article instead, since it is well established. -- malo (tlk) (cntrbtns) 16:07, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
about the page
[edit]The page, more of the career section, is WAY too fanboyish. remember, this is an encyclopedia, not myspace

Expansions Needed
[edit]- Somebody needs to revert his contest history and update it to the present.
- In addition somebody needs to edit his film/video appearences to include his parts in Digital, Almost, Oakley and the upcoming Plan B and Redbull videos.
- He should have a section about his largely female fanbase and his role as a tween idol.
- A section about the backlash and hate he has recieved from the "hardcore" skater community should be added, although it is not strictly necessary
- This article needs to be expanded in general, he is currently the most widely known street and contest skater.
This article gets vandalised all the time, i think its time we started expanding it, and protecting it too Portillo (talk) 08:36, 30 September 2008 (UTC)
- Definately, people keep on taking important facts away and adding wrong information.
- Currently all sources are taken from Life of Ryan and what is seen on TV.
- There needs to be way more sources
- And what about the "haters", he talks about that all the time in interviews
- ESPN did an article about which was pretty good, that should be a source —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.37.91.73 (talk) 00:29, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
It should just be reverted to the old article, there was nothing wrong with it. It talks about his early life and also all his skating accomplishments. Portillo (talk) 06:33, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
I have added a "Filmography" section to the page. I didn't know where to place it. So I placed it after his "Contest history" section, since he is a professional skateboarder and not an actor. CollisionCourse (talk) 13:43, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Feel free to edit it in and add the references. Portillo (talk) 11:56, 16 December 2009 (UTC)

- True, he can't -- the article is semi-protected. Get an account; it's free, trouble-free, doesn't compromise your anonymity (actually enhances it), and you can edit semi-protected articles after a short period of constructive edits to build a reputation. (I'd recommend a reliable spell-checker, though.) --Kbh3rdtalk 04:21, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

Edit request from Thewestisactive, 1 June 2010
[edit]{{editsemiprotected}} Would like to add this photo... http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/62/Skeckler.jpg
Thewestisactive (talk) 12:12, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
Question: Some points before this happens:
- Which one is he the one in the center?
- Who are the other two people in the photo?
- What makes this better than the current photo?
- Where did you get this photo? (If you have a link)
Before we add it. Kind regards, Captain n00dle\Talk 13:27, 1 June 2010 (UTC)

Excessive Lead section
[edit]I have reduced the Lead section, as it was far too long for an article of this size and nature; additionally, the information is contained in the body of the article, where it is most appropriately placed.--Soulparadox (talk) 21:44, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Chris Joslin Wiki
[edit]Hey guys, I am looking to make a page for Ryan Sheckler's teammate and the newest pro on Plan B and Etnies, Chris Joslin. He has been putting in a lot of work recently and has had a lot of coverage in 2015. I was planning on getting my information through interviews in magazines as well as videos. I was also going to acquire information through his video parts as well as contests talking about him. Does anyone have any suggestions or comments about this? Ryan Sheckler! What can I say, someone who couldn't carry on an intelligent conversation with a retarded ape makes millions!! This must be America! A mother that sucks up to him fearing that his multi-million dollar income will leave her behind! A father that states, "he sacrificed everything for his prodigy"! If you removed the words, "drama" "oh my god" and "I don't understand" from their conversation you would have true dead silence!
When I hear and see the conversations between the "prodigy" and his friends I totally understand why the educational system in this country has gone down the toilet! My brightest day would be to see this tool of a teenager, his parents and his friends to have all their "frills" taken away and thrown out into reality and see how long they survives! Get a grip Ryan, your "profession" contributes NOTTA to society as a whole, you only feed the air head mindless dwerbs that fill your world! If you had to spend a day in the trenches you would probably lose your bowels. Ryan Sheckler is an A number one example of why this country is a target waiting to be hit!
