What is the relationship between Ruhr and Rhineland? Do they intersect, or one is part of the other? It should be in the article, because it is important for its understanding. Urod (talk) 20:20, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Name of the article

[edit]

The name of the article should be changed to "Ruhr-Area" in my mind, as "Ruhr" is the name of a river. The german name for the urban area is "Ruhrgebiet", which translates to "Ruhr-Area". Burgi3001 (talk) 17:55, 26 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I completely agree. WikiPate (talk) 11:30, 18 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Burgi3001 Yes, I agree, although my whole life I've always heard of it as the Ruhr Valley, which constitutes the agglomeration of industrial cities located together. However, naming it simply the Ruhr is very misleading, in particular, because most people would associate and apply it to the river, foremost. Whoever did this, didn't think it through or had minimal experience with its use. I agree that a discussion should ensue about changing its name. I checked to see how the German Wikipedia addresses the same article in German, and it is titled "Ruhrgebiet," not simply the "Ruhr," as it is titled here. The name Ruhr itself, should instead be used as a disambiguation page in Wikipedia. Stevenmitchell (talk) 10:16, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
