There have been a number of stories published by Rudaw that have claimed a public figure from a group in political opposition to the KDP said something controversial (and unbelievable, considering the subject's political leanings or the military situation at the time), which have been disputed by the publc figure in question. For example during the Syria/Iraq conflicts:

  • Rudaw-turkish publishes an article claiming a co-chairman of the PYD (Salih Muslim) wishes to ally with the al-nusra jihadist group. Later he makes a statement about biased media fabricating quotes.
  • Rudaw-english quotes the leader of a Yazidi militia (Qasim Sesho) as saying that there will be war with the PKK. Later Mr Sesho releases a video that bluntly states the article lies. Later still, Rudaw silently removes the article from their page.

I could explain this in detail with links but I believe this would qualify as original research? Opinions on this would be nice, I don't wish to turn the article into an essay on media corruption, but a controversy section should be created.

On that note, most of the article as is is biased in Rudaw's favor in a clumsy fashion, with statements pertaining to professionalism and reliability. This gushing essay was produced by a one-shot account.
