Date of death confusion

Through the Public Member Trees section on Ancestry.co.uk/com, I found a Robert Russell who was born on 24 May 1936 and died on 18 May 2008 with his wife's name being Wendy Thornthwaite. This would fit in with his obituary (http://www.advertiserarchive.co.uk/goarchivepro/external2/GP_DOCS/Maidenhead/News/2008/22-May-2008/maidenhead_news_008_22-may-2008.pdf#view=Fit&search='Robert Russell ') published 22 May 2008 but the date of death has left me confused. The obituary says his funeral would be held the following day but if he died on 18 May 2008, it would seem odd for the funeral to take place five days later.
