Xi Shun and Ri Myung Hun

[edit]

The article for Xi Shun says that Xi Shun is the tallest living man on Earth, as recognized by Guinness. However, this article implies that Ri Myung Hun is taller than Xi Shun. Why is Ri Myung Hun's height not recognized by Guinness? --Idont Havaname (Talk) 01:20, 14 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I read that Hun was 7-9, actually 7-9 1/2 and some places listed as 7-10 but definetly he is 7-9 and taller than Sun Ming Ming.

It is not recognized because Guiness were not allowed to officially measure him. Many Ginats overstate their heights in order to be in the record books so Guiness Book of Records is pretty suspicious when a Ginat does not want to be measured. Hun is 7.8.

Ginat?

Guinness DID recognize him. See American 1998 paperback edition, page 367: "Ri Myong-hun (North Korea), the tallest living person, is 7 ft. 8½ [2.35 m] tall." I think he was measured in 1997; I remember reading about it during my military service. That article also mentioned him being promoted 7 ft 10 in (2.39 m) tall. Of course, he was soon replaced by Radhouane Charbib as the tallest living man, and that's why his entry is missing in many editions of Guinness, the Finnish (that I read) for example. I seriously suspect this article has his name misspelled. --Anshelm '77 20:27, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You can find a listing with height (cm), weight (kg) and birthdate here (#15 on the D.P.R. Korea team). --Anshelm '77 20:34, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
