Status of Estonian laws is unclear

[edit]

I cannot understand from this article: 1) is cohabitation agreement in force? Have this kind of unions been performed as of today? Or the government needs to approve further legislation before people can tie in these unions? Please provide link to articles on 'first unions being performed' or similar. In most countries, legislation is passed by parliament, but then the government needs to write the rules (by decree, usually) to instruct officials and state agencies on registries, ceremonies, special cases, and so on. 2) is foreign marriage always recognised as marriage or was the one mentioned in the wiki page a special case of foreign EU nationals who have their non-Estonian marriage recorded in Estonian registries? The difference is quite relevant: if foreign marriage is recognised, any two Estonians can go to Denmark or Portugal or any nation where non-residents can marry, get married, go back to Estonia, have their marriage recognised and enjoy all the rights that marriage confers, adoption included.

If these are not the cases, I urge other Wiki editors to correct the article and the template 'Status of same-sex marriage and unions'. Thanks Finedelledanze (talk) 11:04, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Jonathankwanhc, could you explain your objection to this edit, which you reverted? I didn't change any of the information or content, just corrected the English. Thanks. Jdcooper (talk) 09:25, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jdcooper, the original content has mentioned the comparison of the survey results from 2017 to the ones from 2014 and 2012 respectively. The edit has removed the mention of the survey results from 2012. As I have also put the source of the survey results from 2012 to the reference, that was the reason why I reverted the changes. OK fair enough. I've added the information back, I hope it's ok for you now.. Jdcooper (talk) 03:40, 18 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
