Raúl is the right spelling in Spanish, instead of Raül. As can be seen in the article or in Raúl. The ü in spanish is always followed by a "e" or "i" in the "güe" or "güi" structures, those are the only two possibilities for ü in spanish. So Raül López must be moved to Raúl López. --Natrix (talk) 02:22, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As for which spelling the article should be at, I'm unsure -- he was born in Vic Catalonia and according to the information on Raúl, Raül is the traditional variant form in the Catalan language. Most English-language sources spell appear to spell his name as "Raul", so unless there is some further evidence that he prefers either the Catalan or Spanish spelling, perhaps the article should instead be moved to Raul Lopez. older ≠ wiser06:42, 19 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
So where is the evidence of what general usage is? If he is indeed Catalan, why should his name be spelled with Spanish diacritics? If most English language sources spell his name without any diacritics, they why not use that? older ≠ wiser01:42, 21 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There is a biased emphasis in Catalonia in this article, with the Catalonian spelling and the unnecessary Autonomous Community thing (Why not just "in Catalonia, Spain"??). The legal status of his home city is irrelevant, we are talking Raul Lopez here not Catalonia. "Autonomous community" is a too litteral transation of "Comunidad Autónoma", which is misleading to the non-Spanish reader. Catalonia is "Autonomous" to a certain degree but it is just a political name, a legal and bureaucratic term. The former communist part of Germany was called Democratic, but it was way far from Democracy. Catalonia is a part of Spain as any other region, no more no less, and in the end is 100% subdued to the Spanish government as anyone of all the other Automomous Communities (all of them are legally called "Autonomous") . The main spelling should be in Spanish (as it IS in his ID card), with the other one following indicating it is in Catalonian, in my opinion - this is up to Wikipedia standards. We should discuss basketball here, not politics. User:Klavss — Preceding unsigned comment added by Klavss (talk • contribs) 06:04, 4 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
