Liberty ship?

[edit]

I would like to point out that some "Liberty Ships" were built in Canada. Have any of you pedants even been aboard the "Black Pig"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Medcroft (talkcontribs) 18:18, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is my understanding that all 2,751 Liberty ships were of the same standard design, which displaced over 14,000 tons, while this ship is a 5,000 ton LST. If you have a reliable source that says it's a Liberty ship, I'd be interested to see it. Hohum (talk) 19:28, 20 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Agree that the Liberty Ships were a standardised cargo vessel design, so this LST cannot be one. However, maybe Medcroft is thinking of a slightly different ship type or has confused the terms: could Empire Gull be one of the Empire ships?. -- saberwyn 05:23, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It is an Empire Ship. It's in the wiki category for this already, although it's not specifically mentioned in the article. Hohum (talk) 19:28, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It might be worth doing so, but I leave it up to the regular editors of the article to decide yes or no. -- saberwyn 20:10, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have been aboard her and can confirm she bore no relation to a Liberty ship. All British ships built by the Government in WW2 (apart from warships) were prefixed Empire, regardless of type. Dmgerrard (talk) 20:58, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
