QPL a private corporation?

[edit]

Multiple job listings at QPL state: "Queens Public Library is a private, non-profit corporation with 1,700 employees serving 66 locations." Here for example. Does anyone have a source stating that it is actually public? Without a source to the contrary, should the "type" in the info box be changed to "private"? --Blebaford (talk) 13:49, 2 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy?

[edit]

This entry could cover some of the controversies over the library. The president, Thomas Galante, was fired, which raised questions about whether he should be making $390,000 plus expenses, and why the library should be run as a private institution. This was covered extensively in the New York Daily News http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/queens/queens-library-president-390g-shedding-130-jobs-article-1.1592194 Library Journal, and other WP:RSs. I don't know the answers, but Wikipedia might be a good place to offer some. --Nbauman (talk) 17:18, 25 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
