Spelling

[edit]

Hi there - The spelling pseudotachylyte is the original and proper spelling. I'm not sure how to change the page title to the correct spelling, would appreciate guidance on how to do that and also discussion on that if anyone disagrees. Thanks Christierowe (talk) 01:52, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

When I created this article back in the mists of time, I used the spelling that I remembered (incorrectly as it turns out) from my lectures with Rick Sibson. The spelling with the "i" is, however, used almost as often as that with the "y". In the most recent scientific papers there is a slight preponderance of the "y" spelling (125 v. 113) and I have no objection to moving the article to that name. I will try out a simple move, but if that doesn't work we can use a requested move. Mikenorton (talk) 08:38, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As you can see, the simple move was successful. Mikenorton (talk) 08:41, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Mikenorton! I'm planning to update a few more details of the page, wasn't sure I could do something this major as a new editor. Many thanks for setting up this page, my students have made significant use of it over the last few years. Christierowe (talk) 16:32, 17 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed revisions

[edit]

Hi there! We propose (Eeves6 and I (Emperry) some revisions to the existing pseudotachylyte article for a crustal rheology course. We have elaborated on the existing types of pseudotachylyte based on their origin, and added some notable examples. We have proposed a new sub-subsection to the impact pseudotachylyte subsection on the differences between impact pseudotachylyte and impact melts. The sandbox with our proposed changes is here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Emperry/sandbox

As of today --Emperry (talk) 18:22, 22 November 2022 (UTC) we have edited this wikipedia article with our proposed edits in the sandbox link above.[reply]
