Deletion discussion
[edit]After the PROD was contested, I've taken this to an AfD. This is not meant as any criticism of User:Moonraker, who has done a great job putting this article together. I just don't think there's enough there to warrant an article. Bondegezou (talk) 11:56, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
Removal of up to date image
[edit]Can someone explain why the up to date image of Baroness Couttie, which is not only in colour & HD but is also the official portrait on the House of Lords website: [1] & [2], has been replaced after her death? The image that it has been changed too is 4 years old, is not used on the HoL website and is inferior in quality? 208.127.199.36 (talk) 12:37, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
- Per {{Infobox person#Image}}:
When the subject of a biographical article has recently died, particularly those who have been publicly known for decades, editors may come to a consensus on the article's talk page regarding what image would best be suited for the infobox. An example of such a discussion can be found in the talk page archives for Elizabeth II (section Infobox photograph for after her death); in this instance, the 2015 photograph of Elizabeth II that was present in the article's infobox when discussions began was eventually replaced with a photograph of her taken in 1958.
So, when a subject dies, it no longer makes sense to carry on using the mostup to date image
, because showing what the subject most recently looked like isn't necessarily how they're being remembered. In my opinion, the older portrait (which is also in colour if a little washed out and in actual fact superior in quality at >3 MP) is preferable as the subject appears to look more relaxed and natural; as for the HoL website, they still used it as recently as 2020. ‑‑Neveselbert (talk · contribs · email) 14:20, 21 December 2022 (UTC)
