I am sure that peter allen did commercials for "Sanyo"...that life.Kerry Biddle, was the Sanyo presenter before Richard Wilkins.

Peter Allen featured in "National Panasonic" commercials from 1980 to 1988.The TV commercials first featured his song, "The More I See You", then "I Still Call Australia Home" he was the presenter for Audio/Visual products for the company. He was known as "The Big Entertainer"

POV

[edit]

Do I detect a slight tinge of POV: "Peter's television appearances were equally important as his magnificent recording career"? Algabal 07:06, 3 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

    • I agree: "his performances were electric" is one of many cases of NPOV violations. Someone please clean up this article.

Personal life info needed

[edit]

There needs to be more information, at least one paragraph, about his personal life to round out this article to Wikipedia's standards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Swilli88 (talkcontribs) 16:15, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article says that his most significant relationship was with Chris Orr ("which lasted 15 years")... and later it says that he had a long-time partner, Gregory Connell. This either is inaccurate or implies that Peter Allen was having two relationships simultaneously. —Preceding unsigned comment added by hbscone (talkcontribs) 14:22, 2 January 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.237.96.243 (talk) [reply]

from 6 weeks of age?

[edit]

I put a dubious tag in his personal life section that says he began at 6 weeks of age which would be astounding if he did play piano and dance that early. He's part of the sentence: "after Allen was born in Tenterfield, a small Australian country town in which his grandfather, George Woolnough, worked as a saddler, but he grew up in nearby Armidale NSW, where he first learned piano and dance, from about 6 weeks[dubious – discuss] of age until the age of 15" Where did this come from? 74.83.35.137 (talk) 01:07, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect it's just a badly structured sentence which is trying to tell us that he (with his family, obviously) moved to Armidale when he was six weeks old, but doesn't actually tell us when he began learning piano and dance. HiLo48 (talk) 01:29, 2 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

A citation is needed

[edit]

I reiterate my request in article prose for a citation to support the inclusion that his relationship with Gregory Connell was "his most significant". Absent a citation, I request modified prose that is verifiable and I'd like to see this resolved in the near term. Thank you for considering this further. Peter Allen died in Leucadia, California, rather than in San Diego as the site said. I just made the change. Leucadia is a neighborhood of Encinitas, California, an incorporated city that includes Leucadia, Encinitas, Olivenhain and Cardiff. Peter had a house on Neptune Avenue, which runs north and south along the cliff above the Pacific Ocean. Part of the interior of the house is shown on one of Peter's album jackets. The view is out a picture window over the ocean. My haircutter was Peter's haircutter. She gave him his last haircut. He had been going to her shop, which was just a couple of blocks from his house. But when he became too weak from the disease, he asked the haircutter if she would come to the house. She did. He said something very close to "I'm dying, but I don't have to look like I'm dying." I live a short walk from where Peter used to live. I wish I had met him. I saw him perform at the Huntington Hartford Theater in Hollywood. He was terrific——an extremely exciting and energetic performer. Funny too. He said, "Olivia Newton-John won the Grammy, and I myself got a lovely certificate." While in Australia in November '06, I visited Tenterfield, NSW, Peter's home town. There's a motel there called the Peter Allen Motel. I don't know what the connection is, if any, but there's a silhouette of Peter on the sign, complete with blousy shirt and marimbas.
