Merge
[edit]Text and/or other creative content from Target killing of Hazaras was copied or moved into Persecution of Hazara people with [permanent diff this edit]. The former page's history now serves to provide attribution for that content in the latter page, and it must not be deleted as long as the latter page exists. |
Probably best to lose the list format and merge both articles. Darkness Shines (talk) 12:29, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
- The primary purpose of the article was not to create a list of incidents that occurred but to have a detailed article. Takes time Hazara Birar (Talk) 12:34, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
I wanted to write an article under the title of target(ted) killings of Hazara on this specific subject, which could be a subtitle under the more general and broader subject of the Persecution of Hazara people, which includes much more than just the killings in Quetta. Therefore I would request all of you to give your opinion on this matter. I would rather have the article Persecution of Hazara people remodified and edited to include all kinds of persecution and not simply the killings or at least not just the events of Quetta. - Gharjistan, you can add all sort of the info under Persecution of Hazara people. The reason I nominated your article Target Killins of Hazara for deletion was because we already had an article but with different title. I know it just remained as a list only, because of not having enough, I was intending to work on it but didn't get the time to do so. Anyways, I would say it would be great if you merge your article into this one. The title Persecution of Hazara people has a broader sense and it goes well with the names of other articles too, like Persecution of Hindus, Persecution of Christians...etc. You might need to understand the copyrights policies of Wikipedia, I saw the images you upload, they will be deleted soon, here read these they might help, Commons:Licensing and Commons:Copyright tags. Citations Needed
[edit]There is alot of info that don't have citations. Therefore adding citation needed.Hazara Birar (Talk) 05:48, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
New layout
[edit]I have thought of a new layout for the article. The current article is limited to persecutions in Pakistan only. The new layout will include Afghanistan and Iran as well. Please help and expand the article. Here is the link to the new layout , my sandbox.
I have also listed the massacres of Hazara people in Afghanistan (my sandbox), feel free to write about them. Regarding the persecution in Iran, haven't found much info yet. Hazara Birar (Talk) 09:48, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
- I agree with your layout, and as far as I remember (from an earlier discussion with you last year), this was the original plan when first creating this article: to cover the entire history of persecution, from Afghanistan to Pakistan and other places where Hazara people live. The new layout will help establish a background for a general history behind this persecution. Afghanistan should definitely be included in the article as some previous Afghan regimes had adopted certain discriminatory policies, and that information is necessary to establish a context of the early origins of this persecution. I think the Taliban can have a seperate section of their own too. And lastly, I'd also like to stress that persecution does not only equal target killings/assassinations/terrorist incidents, but it can also be racism and discrimination in general. Your layout can help make the article broad, as the current version was only a list of target killings and did not have a background/history of discrimination. As the article is growing and major part of the article is focused on Persecution of Hazara people in Quetta. Therefore I have started a new article Persecution of Hazaras in Quetta to put all details like (Timeline of attacks) there and remove such info from this article, as this article was intended to give a general information on Persecution of Hazaras but the situation of Quetta is taking over the article. Comments and suggestion are welcomed. Hazara Birar (Talk) 06:15, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Proposed merge of Persecution of Hazara people in Quetta into Persecution of Hazara people
[edit]- The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
- The result of the discussion was not merged. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:42, 17 July 2022 (UTC)
This article should be boldly merged into the existing, much comprehensive article Persecution of Hazara people to avoid content forking. Most of the context is already described in greater detail and clarity at the latter article. The only really different part is the "timeline" which hasn't been updated since 2013, and which is unlikely to be maintainable. For these reasons, the topic will be better served if merged into the existing article mentioned above. Mar4d (talk) 15:42, 15 August 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose. Some parts of the background sections may be redundant, but the prose and lists of specific events seem to me to be almost completely complementary between the two articles. This is a case of a subarticle, not content forking. The political and historical situations in Pakistan and Afghanistan are inter-related, but distinct. As editors add sources discussing the wider processes (stereotypes, prejudices, politics of which organised group - religious/governmental/political-party/military/terrorist/media), we can see if the Quetta and Afghanistan persecutions are described in terms of those processes as a single cohesive process that makes more sense in a single article rather than split up. I currently see no justification in terms of the content and sources for merging. Some editing of the introductory parts to reduce redundancy might be justified, but that wouldn't affect the main content. Boud (talk) 02:22, 1 September 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose: Same as Boud, but I would also like to add that there is such thing as being too bold, and that as Wikipedia's fifth pillar states, "Be Bold, but not reckless." With all due respects, Dunutubble (talk) 03:26, 27 December 2021 (UTC)
