Pan African School of Theology is a globally significant entitiy as the only academic institution in the world soley dedicated to engaging men and women of African Descent in scholarly diaogue over Pan-African issues in theology and teleology from a Biblical perspective. Deletion of the related Wikipedia article would inhibit the free dialogue and communication of people interested in these issues. Please respect our contribution to this dialogue. Thank you. James W. some thoughts to consider

[edit]

DrKiernan, I share your concern about protecting the integrity of this encylopedia and I agree that articles which do not make meaningful contributions to the project should be revised or deleted. I desire to contribute an article of encyclopedic quality that can be balanced and refined by community consensus.

Therefore, as the wikicommunity evaluates the significance of PAST, perhaps we should distinguish the idea of "significance" from "notarity." As an institution facilitating academic dialogue, PAST can not yet boast of global notarity, however, that certainly does not mean that it cannot be globally significant. History witnesses that certain events, movements and people which, at one time, were overlooked, later proved highly significant. Obscurity does not equate insignificance.

Institutions (such as PAST) that are based in developing regions of Africa already face a great communication disadvantage because information resources and internet access are often inaccessible or costly. This is all the more reason to protect the PAST article so that people who are looking for information related to what PAST is doing can find it.

I celebrate the advent of Wikipedia and the fact that such an open forum now exists to share and acquire information freely. Thank you. Kindest regards, James RolandJwroland 06:08, 6 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
