Untitled

[edit]

Should all uses of "Outpost Snipe" (and "Snipe") when referring to the outpost be capitalized? I assumed so, so I changed them. Ealex292 04:30, 22 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Expansion

[edit]

Added narrative from Pitt 1982 but it needs reconciling with the OH and Latimer 2003 over times, dates and names of units.Keith-264 (talk) 12:11, 15 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Finished for the moment unless anyone can contribute other sources.Keith-264 (talk) 15:39, 18 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Location

[edit]

I've added the obituary of Tom Bird which states Snipe was 1.5 miles SW of kidney ridge. As a comment on the article I did find it hard it hard to locate the outpost though there is a line at the end of the second para of the Operation Supercharge section. This is a key bit of information, could I suggest it is explicitly mentioned in the lead? Commons cat

[edit]

@Mike Peel: What wouldn't be a misplaced Commons category? Regards Keith-264 (talk) 23:20, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Keith-264: Are there enough media files to create commons:Category:Defence of Outpost Snipe? I definitely think that commons:Category:World War II in North Africa is too broad for this article. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 23:25, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I thought that there were so many small articles in the Desert War series that it was better to avoid duplication but I'm far from an expert in such matters. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 23:35, 26 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Is there an advice page you can point me towards? Regards Keith-264 (talk) 07:53, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There's Template:Commons_category#Resolving_discrepancies. Looking around, there is commons:Category:Second Battle of El Alamein - but that has a wider scope than this article, and that is (correctly) linked from Second Battle of El Alamein. It's not easy for me to identify which images in this article are specifically from the event, or are used for wider context. I'm happy to set up commons:Category:Defence of Outpost Snipe if you can help populate it? Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 09:44, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good morning, none of the photos and maps are specific to Snipe, I made do with those in the Alamein articles. Regards Keith-264 (talk) 10:31, 27 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
