Coatrack

[edit]

This article seems to be a coatrack for reporting of the Somalia conflict and the dangers of reporting per se. In particular, the Context section has very little to do with this person specifically and could have been better served by a link to an appropriate page like Somalia Civil War. Hack (talk) 06:35, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is not meant as a coatrack. Noramfaizul is considered to be a hero in Malaysia. That alone makes a stand-alone article necessary. The context is meant to put his death into perspective for the audience. Noramfaizul's death was part of a complex web of humanitarian relief, famine, war and refugee crisis. A link alone would not give the readership, especially outside of Malaysia, the information needed about what was going on at the time of his death, although links were created to these other points. Dobry (talk) 18:27, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The other point is that none of the issues in the coatrack problem are present here. This entry is not about a living person. The context section does not add bias. Dobry (talk) 18:30, 15 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Finally, I would point the person to the part of the coatrack article that answers "What is not a coatrack" and to the example of the astronaut and a moonlanding as being a major part of that article. Normafaizul's article is similar to that example in that it was his death in foreign country while on a humanitarian issue that made him a hero in Malaysia and it was his death while reporting that made him the subject of interet to journalists.
