Commercial free?

[edit]

I would need confirmation, but I do not think that Nick Jr. is comercial-free these days, if it ever was. I won't let my preschooler watch the morning shows because they run ads for toys and crap foods. 76.197.56.104 (talk) 05:18, 29 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Year established

[edit]

I think Nick Jr. was established before 1990. I Was a _major_ TV kid and I remember seeing the nick jr bumpers for Noozles in 1989 (I remember this because I had also watched Who Framed Roger Rabbit on TV during the same time frame.

I also believe the last year of pinwheel (;_;) was under the nick jr. brand (also 1989)

The long list added earlier

[edit]

It occurs to me I may understand what the anonymous poster was trying to do in their earlier edits here, which was to provide an alphabetical list (if not a complete list) of all logo shapes used in the history of Nick Jr. (e.g. two crocodiles to create the logo, two flowers, and so on). I do not believe having this in the article significantly improves it. That said, in the interest of providing relevant content, I have taken it upon myself to instead describe what the logo is in broad strokes, with the hope that it is not necessary to explicitly list all of the dozens or hundreds of logos that Nick Jr. has used in the last 15+ years. Fair use rationale for Image:Nickjr logo.jpg

[edit]

Image:Nickjr logo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:30, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ads being aired during Nick Jr. shows

[edit]

What is with the "citation needed"? Back in June, I saw commercials during shows with my own two eyes! (I was only watching NJ because I was waiting for SpongeBob) WizardDuck 03:50, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why in the World?

[edit]

Why did someone list slogans for years that haven't even happened in the slogan list? Purplewowies (talk) 02:23, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, the reason I edited an "IP user's" comment (if you go to the history of this page you'll see it) is because I was that IP user, and I forgot to sign in. Purplewowies (talk) 02:32, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am also curious as to why there are slogans listed for years well into the future. Even if such information was planned out this far in advance (10 years out seems like an awful long time for such development) and was available within the walls of the marketing department at Nick Jr., it certainly would not yet have been made public - and probably, then, shouldn't be listed here as it's unverifiable by anyone not employed by Nick Jr. or its parent network. Lekoman (talk) 09:10, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Someone likes to vandalize the dates, and pushes the creation of Nick Jr back to 1979, and then adds future dates. The IP usually begins with 216, but when I see "Launch date 1979", I just revert on sight. Yngvarr (t) (c) 09:18, 1 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First, it said that Nick Jr. launched on June 1, 1977, and then April 1, 1979, and then in 1981, but it really launched in 1988.--Jwilson128 (talk) 22:58, 21 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Face

[edit]

Here's something you might want to add to the article. I don't know if anyone remembers it, but Face became slightly "cooler" (different voice, different style face) in, oh, about 2003 or 04. Nick4404 (talk) 16:33, 1 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Nick4404. When Noggin gets replaced with Nick Jr, will it show Face? WTF!? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.243.17.185 (talk) 21:10, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nickelodeon Retiring Nick Jr. ?

[edit]

I've noticed recently that Nick is using their usual logos and show-end graphics during the Nick Jr. block; in fact, some of the between-show bumpers have been replaced with more generic ones utilizing some of Noggin's graphics. Does anyone have any specifics on when this occurred, and why? 206.126.180.20 (talk) 17:33, 12 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You know what, Nick has retired Nick Jr, it's just that the Nick Jr will replace Noggin in September/December unknown (same with TEENick and The N).

Slow moving edit war

[edit]

So, there is a nice and slow edit war going on right now, regarding the demanufacture of the block and reinvention as an actual channel. Here are some examples of diffs: [1] [2] [3] [4]. I could go on, but I won't. If your name appears in those diffs, *shrug*, I'm not using you as a scapegoat, just the fact that there is some disagreement about the nature of this article, or more specifically the infobox. Not the nature of the program block, and not the nature of the forthcoming channel

So I'll try to get some discussion here on what exactly the infobox details. Does it detail the now-defunct programming block? Does it detail the upcoming channel? Does it detail both? Should this indeed be split out into two separate articles, one for the defunct block and one for the channel? Yngvarr (t) (c) 21:26, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How about Bear in the Big Blue House?

[edit]

Nick Jr. didn't aired this show, it was aired on Playhouse Disney on Monday, August 11, 1997. This format was repeated every Weekdays, Nick Jr. shows are aimed at preschoolers ages 2-5 year olds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.147.198.171 (talk) 23:36, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Fair use dispute over image Old Nick Jr logo.png

[edit]

The file File:Old Nick Jr logo.png is being considered for deletion for as a violation of WP:NFCCP #8: "Contextual significance. Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding."]]

Discussion of this deletion proposal can be found on the talk page of image itself. — trlkly 20:17, 6 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
