Untitled

[edit]

Given that this article is quite detailed, and the Nation radio one isn't, would it be sensible to merge into one article under the Nation Radio name?? XFM in South Wales only lasted six months. Oxfordmale (talk) 11:59, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Dispute about the broadcast area

[edit]

OK, so the station is based in Neath, but it is transmitted from Kilvey Hill in Swansea. We need to resolve the dispute about the broadcast area - what is the normal convention used by the UK Radio task force? - to refer to the location of the studio or the transmitter? Pondle (talk) 09:59, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've contacted a few editors active in WikiProject Radio Stations to request objective comments. Pondle (talk) 23:53, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The way that other articles I have encountered and other websites usually refer to the area where the transmitter (Kilvey Hill in this case) broadcasts to, and you have to ensure that the area that a transmitter serves is a) accurate and b) what most people will be able to understand if they read the article. From this website, Kilvey Hill serves Swansea and the surrounding area, so Swansea area would be correct in my view. As a compromise, you could use "Swansea and Neath area". --tgheretford (talk) 20:47, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the feedback. I've changed it to "Swansea area" - Swansea can serve as a reference for Neath (for example Neath is part of Swansea Urban Area) but vice versa would seem extremely odd. Update: here's a source describing the Nation Radio frequency pertaining to the "Swansea area" [1]Pondle (talk) 12:13, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Presenters

[edit]

The list of presenters should be added to this page because the page is too short and it needs to be made bigger. It also gives details of the shows broadcast on Nation. (talk) 15:08, 09 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Something shouldn't be added to an article just because it makes it longer. A list of presenters should not appear on a radio station article as per Wikiproject Radio Stations, as it's not encyclopaedic. Welshleprechaun (talk) 20:28, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have now written a proper article on the presenters, which is not in list form, so this should be OK. I will find some citations when I have more time. (talk) 15:05, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DAB (North Wales)

[edit]

I've added a reference to Nation Radio beginning to be broadcasted in north-east Wales. One of the transmitters on the multiplex will be in Liverpool. Other interested editors might like to watch the thread on DigitalSpy's radio forum. One of the posts there implies that the ultimate transmission area will be further west along the A55 but this is being held up due to the DAB frequency clashing with a TV station in Ireland which might remain on the air until 2015. I have nominated File:Logo smaller gif2.png for discussion as it may have a dubious non-free use rationale. To discuss this please see this file's entry in Wikipedia:Files for discussion/2019 April 7. Verbcatcher (talk) 07:04, 7 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
