the terrorists did not demand the release of Andreas Baader of RAF in their communiqué

[edit]

As shown by Anna Greithanner, Dominik Aufleger and Robert Wolff in 2022 when they found a copy of the original communiqué in the Bavarian State Archives the terrorists of Black September did not demand the release of Andreas Baader but only of Ulrike Meinhof. Their article as showed that the formerly published number of to be released prisoners of about 236 was wrong since the list includes the names of 328. Thus the article should correct this mistake by removing Andreas Baader and including a section about common micsonceptions regarding the demands of Black September.

Corrections made to show the "original communiqué" cited does in fact only list the name of Ulrike Meinhof and not that of Andreas Baader, plus add inline citation/reference. Nightsturm (talk) 21:41, 27 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

grammatical errors

[edit]

Ultimatum section: "Shortly before 5:00 am, the Munich police, the organizing committee, and paramedics were alerted. Ambulances arrived, and the blood-soaked Weinberg that the terrorists had thrown in front of the apartment building entrance (Connollystraße 31), who could not be saved, was recovered." This is poorly written overall but at a minimum change 'that' to who, in reference to a person.

News wire section: "Initial news reports published all over the world, indicated that all the hostages were alive and that all the attackers had been killed." This is not a grammatical sentence and is confusing as written. Most easily corrected with a comma after 'reports'. 2601:445:801:6F30:6168:FC43:BB71:8DA9 (talk) 07:20, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Engvar

[edit]

The article appears to have started in UK English ("armoured") and to now be a mixture of spellings. I propose to standardise it on the original version, per MOS:RETAIN. Any objections? John (talk) 08:01, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good to me. CWenger (^@) 16:54, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I think I'm done. There is still a lot of repetition in the article, and the section on Anton Fliegerbauer should probably either be a standalone article, or should be removed. John (talk) 21:57, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've just seen Talk:Munich massacre/Archive 4#Merger proposal. It seems this material was merged here a couple of yeas ago. Would we favour recreating it as an article, or removing it? Some of it is duplicative and most of the rest probably fails WP:NOTMEMORIAL. What do folks think? John (talk) 23:29, 6 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

In the Ultimatum section of Ultimatum, negotiations and first rescue effort, last line of fourth paragraph, change "Minister of Defence" to "Minister of Defense" ParkerSolar (talk) 00:08, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: both are correct and no valid reason given for the proposed change. M.Bitton (talk) 01:35, 29 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction is misleading

[edit]

The Introduction says that the Olympians who were held hostage were "later killed," but does not say by whom. This reads like an attempt to deflect accountability. The introduction should be edited to read "and took nine others hostage and later killed them during a failed rescue attempt."

Incorrect death listed

[edit]

In the AFTERMATH section "Effect on the Games" it says quote: "...Carmel Eliash. During the memorial service, Eliash collapsed and died of a heart attack." After reading Carmel's page I discovered he survived this heart attack and was flown back to Israel, but died of a different heart attack the following year at a different unrelated ceremony. 76.139.178.134 (talk) 15:45, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
