Confused chronology

[edit]

The chronology here seems a bit confused. The article gives the impression that he was serving as a naval officer in Afghanistan and briefing the top commanding generals while simultaneously being the travel editor and national spokesman of a major magazine, launching a startup company, writing some books, appearing on various television shows, and restoring antique cars. It also does not explain his military career. Was he just appointed as a Commander of the Navy as soon as he joined, or was there some period of time when he held a lower rank? When was he born? Where does he live? Does he have a family? —BarrelProof (talk) 00:40, 4 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree, BarrelProof, although I'm new to Wikipedia and don't have the skills or objectivity to tinker with the page personally. To answer your main question, however, I am a Naval Reservist (which is correctly referred to as the United States Navy Reserve, a part of the U.S. Navy). I'd be grateful if someone added that information. I began my naval career as an ensign in 1999 when I was commissioned with the help of the then-chairman of Forbes, Caspar Weinberger, but do not have a source to share with you for that fact. As for adding personal information, I've never discussed my family in the press, but the following article does cite the reserves and the fact that I live in Birmingham, Ala. http://b-metro.com/larger-than-life/155/ MorganMurphy14 (talk) 16:40, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Reading the page, I see the missing source info from my alma matter, Birmingham-Southern College. Here is a link to confirm that information http://www.alumni.bsc.edu/s/1388/index.aspx?sid=1388&gid=1&pgid=320 MorganMurphy14 (talk) 16:43, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks very much for providing that information. I'll work on getting the verifiably-sourced parts of it into the article. —BarrelProof (talk) 18:49, 23 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Many improvements and careful editing. Thank you for your help and objectivity. Morgan Murphy 15:15, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, and best of luck in your future endeavors. —BarrelProof (talk) 16:19, 25 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

QVC

[edit]

Here's a link to my most recent QVC appearance (this last Sunday, March 12th), where the host notes I'm a frequent guest and that we sold out of my new book, "Off the Eaten Path: On the Road Again" http://www.qvc.com/Off-the-Eaten-Path:-On-the-Road-Again-by-Southern-Living.product.F11836.html?sc=F11836-SRCH&cm_sp=VIEWPOSITION-_-1-_-F11836&catentryImage=http://images.qvc.com/is/image/f/36/f11836.001?$uslarge$ Morgan Murphy 20:50, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

  • Not sure how notable it is to appear on QVC, since that's basically a commercial advertisement venue, but I added it (and listed the new book, which seemed more interesting). —BarrelProof (talk) 23:16, 15 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
