I will be doing the GA Reassessment on this article as part of the GA Sweeps project. H1nkles (talk) 17:13, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have some concerns about this article particularly relating to the references.

  • The article is very sparcely referenced. I added some [citation needed] templates to the article but more could have been added. An example of what I'm talking about is the "Sieges of Bukhara, Samarkand and Urgench" section. This section is 1,077 words and a total of five in-line citations. There should be more referencing of the article.
  • I'm also concerned about the formatting of the references in the Notes section. Per WP:CITE book references should have page numbers associated with each citation if possible. The books are referenced in the Notes and the format of the reference in the References section is fine but in the notes each in-line citation should have a corresponding page number where the reader can refer for more information. See Olympic Games as an example of what I'm talking about. This is not always possible and each reference should be taken on a case by case basis as there are times when the reference refers to the book as a whole, but generally if page numbers are available they should be included whenever possible. I understand that this would be incredibly difficult and time consuming and so I'm willing to work with the editors on this point.
  • The external websites should at least have publisher and accessdates.
  • The Map of Events in the External links section is dead.
  • "Most scholars attribute his death to pneumonia, but others cite the sudden shock of the loss of his empire." This quote is not referenced and use of the term, "Most scholars" can be considered weasel wording.

The lead should include information on the issues with his sons and how the invasion sowed the seeds of discontent among the Khan's sons.

I will put this article on hold though it will require a lot of referencing. I will check back in a week to see how things are coming. Please contact me on my talk page if there are questions. H1nkles (talk) 22:52, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I do not see any work having been done in the last week on this article related to my review. As such I will delist the article due to the fact that it does not meet the GA Criteria for referencing and MOS compliance on reference formatting. H1nkles (talk) 15:39, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
