Reasons for reversion

[edit]

I'm reverting the recent changes to my previous version of this page, as I don't see how the revised version meets MOS:DP in any way better than my own version did (nor why WP:IAR should be invoked).

Here's a survey of the changes that were made that I don't agree with:

  • Replacing a short introductory sentence, linking back to the primary meaning, with a lengthy definition encompassing multiple wikilinks. See MOS:DP#Linking to a primary topic, MOS:DP#Introductory line.
  • Replacing a list of types of milk that are entirely different from the primary meaning, such as coconut milk, with a list of types of milk that are just varieties of the kind at milk. (In other words, if you want to read about powdered milk, I'm sure you can read about that at milk because powdered milk is just a variety of cow's milk. Coconut milk, on the other hand, is an entirely separate usage of the word "milk" and should thus be included on a disambiguation page.) See WP:DAB#Set index articles.
  • Replacing short headings with long ones that bold the word "milk" for no apparent reason. See MOS:DP#Longer lists.
  • Reordering the links, which I don't particularly care about but was unnecessary.
  • Moving and rewording the definition of Milk used in the link to Audition Online, so that the definition is now incorrect; while the information at that article about what Milk is is VERY vague, it clearly implies that Milk is a performing artist whose songs are used in the game, not a character invented in the game.
  • Moving Harvey Milk down to See Also, which is iffy but I think he was fine in "Other usage".
  • Adding Milk River, which should be there and I will incorporate it into my reverted version. (Although that page is a mess and needs cleanup.) Propaniac (talk) 12:38, 4 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to include 'dairy' to assist disambiguation

[edit]

I suggest that the terms 'dairy' (and, if necessary, 'non-dairy') be included to help define the different types of milk. This would probably mean changing "Milk" to "Dairy milk". What do people think?--Tyranny Sue (talk) 08:37, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"female mammary glands" inaccurate

[edit]

"Milk is a nutrient liquid produced by female mammary glands." Please see "female" section of Talk:Milk and also Male lactation. It should be just "mammary glands", or perhaps "...produced by mammals".--Tyranny Sue (talk) 08:46, 31 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion to include clothing brand in other uses

[edit]

I suggest we add that it is also the name of a brand of clothing of the Lolita fashion in japan BlackCatNeko (talk) 16:50, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Is there an article that mentions it? We don't aim for exhaustive-indexing at disambig pages, but simply to provide navigation to what Wikipedia currently covers. See MOS:DABRL for details on redlinks in dabpages. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:26, 15 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where is the page for Cow's Milk ? ? ?

[edit]

I have searched diligently, but I cannot find a Wikipedia page for "Cow's Milk". Many other animals have their own individual page for their milk, but not plain ordinary cows ! Have I missed something ? Darkman101 (talk) 06:09, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
