Child marriage advocate
[edit]So far no one has provided any sources that refer to him as a child marriage advocate, which is an incredibly contentious label. Is there any sourcing at all to apply this label in the lead? ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 19:46, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
- See here.WAPO, Newsweek. The lead should be a summary of the article body; which is already cited. Ceoil (talk) 22:52, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Neither of those sources refer to him as a child marriage advocate. And yes, the lead should summarize the body, not label them for the worst thing you can find in the article. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 23:05, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Yeah I realise that now, "advocate" is a bit strong. Maybe 'known for his controversial views on environmental protection, abortion, COVID-19 prevention, underage marriage, and the utility of corporation tax?' Ceoil (talk) 23:23, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Not a fan of "known for his controversial views" as many of the sources don't mention the views as being controversial, or that those views are what he's known for. Taking the corporate tax as an example, the source is just an interview and it makes no statement about his views on corporate tax, and the question that elicited the reply didn't mention corporate taxes. I think it would be better to just straight summarize the views, e.g.
Moon is against abortion and has introduced legislation to define a human zygote as a person. He has supported children being able to marry other children with parental consent as an alternative to abortion. He opposes mandatory sex education in schools, and proposed bills banning the discussion of LGBTQ people in public schools and prohibiting doctors from providing gender affirming care to minors. Moon is against mandatory masking and regulation of businesses as a tool to mitigate COVID-19, and wants to eliminate corporate taxation.
ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 10:57, 19 April 2023 (UTC)- agree. Ceoil (talk) 11:10, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
