[edit]Citation 17 appears to be from a sermon, I don't particularly feel that just anyone who makes a sermon is qualified to be cited as "truth" or an expert on a matter.
I didn't see anything in the series that pointed to "cultish" but rather a tribal understanding of advanced technology. There very well could have been a soldier named Tom from the Navy, but with an exaggerated explanation of him to their people in an attempt to understand what what happening at the time.
