Redirects to this list

[edit]

Please be aware that there are almost 3,000 redirects to this list. So moving or deleting of this page is likely to have significant impact and be potentially controversial. A move to draft space has already been reverted for this reason. Please discuss any intentions to move or delete this page, first, using an appropriate discussion process. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 22:58, 24 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Cameron Dewe and Liz: The redirects appear to have all been created a few days ago, by the same editor. Onetwothreeip (talk) 07:01, 25 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Onetwothreeip: I observe that between 27 May and 25 June 2022, this article has been receiving an average of 141 views per day. The number of views per day appear to be independent of the number of redirects to this article. This number of views is about a tenth of the views for the article about the Casualties of the September 11 attacks, which this article used to redirect to. The number of views for that article do not appear to have suffered as a result of this article's creation. However, this article might benefit from a hatnote to the "Casualties of the September 11 attacks".

So I have added the above example - Cameron Dewe (talk) 07:22, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that editor is me; guilty as charged. The nearly 3,000 redirects are the names on the list. I've now restored the victims' details as reported in the sources, after completing the cleanup in my sandbox. There are still some dabs and redlinks to sort out, but they are few and far in between. — Guarapiranga  15:12, 26 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I started fixing the redirects corrupted by the draftification, but someone didn't like it, and reported me at WP:ANI for it. — Guarapiranga  00:35, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Should it be 2,977?

[edit]

Why does it say 2,994 instead of 2,977, which seems to be what the sources say? For example [[1]] says 2,983 and that's including the 6 killed in the 1993 bombing. Danstronger (talk) 00:44, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it's outdated? 2,994 is simply the number of the last row on the table. New fatal victims have been identified in the last few years (see [1][2][3], but I do see these sources also quote different totals from both the Memorial, this page, and each other!). — Guarapiranga  00:54, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No, those stories are about identifying additional victims with their remains, not about adding new people to the list of fatalaties. The Times of Israel one says 2753 at WTC, which is consistent with 2977 victims total. The WTC memorial webpage also says 2983 including the 6 from '93, which also gives 2977. I don't know why the table has more rows, but we should put a headline number that agrees with what sources say or not say the number at all. Danstronger (talk) 02:01, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I changed the wording to that at the 9/11 Memorial website.Guarapiranga  02:36, 14 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Should we add photos of them?

[edit]

I’m thinking of doing this I💖平沢唯 (talk) 22:02, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nvm I can’t because copyright I💖平沢唯 (talk) 06:21, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Actually I'll try again, this time uploading to Wikipedia not Wikimedia. If I'm not allowed to do that please tell me. I💖平沢唯 (talk) 10:44, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Nvm, I gotta write an essay about why I can't replace it with a free media for each of the 3000 victims I💖平沢唯 (talk) 10:58, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ILoveHirasawaYui: If you have pictures of any victims first published before March 1, 1989, and there isn't a copyright notice at the time of original publication, it's probably not copyrighted (the photographer would have had to registered the photo with the U.S. copyright office). See c:COM:HIRTLE for more info. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 01:33, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have no objection to this. Nightscream (talk) 13:33, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation of Hamilton, New Jersey

[edit]

Per this page (https://visitnj.org/nj-911-memorials/world-trade-center-artifact-0), the Hamilton where William Reed Bethke and Daniel Leonard Maher lived was Hamilton Township, Mercer County, New Jersey. However, I'm not sure how to accomplish the disambiguation of that link based on how this table is formatted. Can anyone help out with that? JamesAM (talk) 17:58, 26 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
