Change title to "National Library of Argentina"

[edit]

The current pompous name ("National Library of the Argentine Republic") sounds official but isn't. If nobody opposes, I'll change it to "National Library of Argentina", which is simpler and follows the pattern of other similar articles (see List of national and state libraries). --Angus (talk) 08:14, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Should the article perhaps be titled Mariano Moreno National Library? -- NotCharizard 🗨 12:29, 16 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 16 December 2024

[edit]

National Library of ArgentinaMariano Moreno National Library – As per WP:OFFICIALNAMES, it makes more sense to use the proper name of the library than a description of it. -- NotCharizard 🗨 15:50, 16 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. ~🌀 Ampil 💬 / 📝 12:11, 23 December 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 09:59, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@NotAGenious: why was this moved? Nobody supported the move in the RM and it clearly goes against the discussion on this in the prior section. I oppose this move, we should use the WP:COMMONNAME not the WP:OFFICIALNAME for the instistution. The Spanish Wikipedia also uses Biblioteca Nacional (Argentina) as the title. You should respect that per WP:RMNOMIN, no amount of participation is required to close a move. In the prior section, the article was moved 2 years ago with the decision of one editor. Editors have had 2 weeks to cast their opinions. I've however reverted my closure per your request. NotAGenious (talk) 10:30, 1 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
