Talk:Mamadou Pathé Diallo

I'm commenting on this page as the Head of Communications for the Infectious Diseases Data Observatory (IDDO), as this biography cites a webpage from our website (https://www.iddo.org/professor-mamadou-pathe-diallo) as one of the sources (reference 2).

However, this wikipedia article is conflating the biographies of two separate people who appear to share the same name: the Mamadou Pathe Diallo mentioned on the IDDO website is now deceased (https://www.iddo.org/news/tribute-professor-mamadou-pathe-diallo), and the person in the photo on the IDDO website does not resemble the photo on this stub. Professor Diallo as mentioned on the IDDO website has also never been a politician, or been investigated/indicted for corruption or embezzlement: he died in 2022, before charges were brought against the politician that this wikipedia article appears to be about.

The following paragraph (taken from the IDDO web page https://www.iddo.org/professor-mamadou-pathe-diallo) on the wikipedia article is therefore incorrect, as it refers to different person of the same name:

"He has been a Professor of Paediatrics since 1988. Recently head of the Medical Centre & Health Counselling (CEMECO) in Kipé as well as the Paediatric, Haematology and Oncology Unit at Conakry University Hospital. He is a member of the Guinea National Ethics Committee for Health Research (CNERS), West African College of Physicians (WACP), the Franco-African Group of Pediatric Oncology (GFAOP) and the Guinean Association of Biosecurity and Biosafety (AGUIBIOS). He has been a district Chief Medical Officer, Head of Department at Conakry University Hospital, Minister of Health, Director of the Regional Institute of Public Health (IRSP) of Cotonou in Benin, and a Representative of WHO. He pioneered the implementation of Primary Health Care (Bamako Initiative) in Guinea.[2]"

I would suggest deleting this paragraph, as well as reference 2. I wonder if its also worth including a disambiguating line saying that there is another Mamadou Pathe Diallo (now deceased) who was a scientist, so that the error is not repeated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Suryas z (talk • contribs) 14:47, 23 January 2024 (UTC)

• Why it should be changed: The paragraph above relates to another person of the same name: the information above is copied and pasted from reference 2, but the photo in reference 2 in the paragraph do not match the photo in the biography. The person in reference 2 is also now deceased.

I will remove the paragraph (clearly they are two different people) but according to the source used, he no longer holds the position referenced. That means the only content in the article is essentially about corruption. Are there references that can be used to add more content to the article? (Apologies; I do not speak French and can't read several of the references used.) JSFarman (talk) 19:20, 25 January 2024 (UTC)
