Why?

[edit]

Why? Why should anyone care? I just don't get it. Two girls lip-sinking on youtube and google video, and 6 million people watch it? -Patstuart 16:50, 11 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They've amassed an audience and fan group large enough to be notable. I know it's a different phenomenon, but Numa Numa, which has something like 14 million views, has a firm article here on WP, significant for the same reasons. -- Daverocks (talk) 07:03, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh I wasn't saying the article should be deleted. Just wondering why people are so attracted to them. I don't see anything interesting. -Patstuart 13:26, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because people are entertained by them, and for good reason. Many of their actions go beyond just lip-syncing; it's often their randomness and spontaneity which makes many of the videos humorous. -- Daverocks (talk) 13:37, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Randomness and spontaneity? Biggest load of bullshit I've ever read: they're cute and that's the sole reason. If I knew how to, I would rate this article for deletion because the hundreds of thousands of people who lip-sync to pop songs don't get articles, and neither should they (nor any of the lip-syncing people). Numa-Numa was different because it got media attention. Surely I can't be the only one who thinks this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.3.126.233 (talk) 17:08, 14 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not a big fan of the duo either, but I think the Barbie video is definitely not of the ordinary. Xiner 18:55, 13 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They have great charisma. Yes, they're cute, but it's more than that. Numa Numa is a good comparison, because Gary Brolsma has the same kind of charisma in his second video, but to a much lesser extent. Most of the other Barbie Girl and Numa Numa lip syncs out there don't come close in my opinion. Anyone can lip sync, but not everyone can do it in a way that makes people love them. Adding a Section

[edit]

I believe that, since they are up on here, we should have an article for the home site where they posted it, www.bopsta.com it makes sense because a few years ago, it was a worldwide craze, with support from the jazz artist, Jamie Cullum. We should think about it.

Unnecessary!

[edit]

Is it really necessary to give a ('fanlike') wikipedia-entry to a short-lived "internet-phenomen", furthermore such a long one, incl. a detailed description of their looks ..?! I don't think so ... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.154.17.23 (talk) 21:57, 9 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Someone with only 15 minutes of fame is still a part of history, and deserves to be remembered. Mcavic (talk) 05:24, 23 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For god's sake, but according to their "15 minutes"-fame an entry of 3, 4 lines is absolutely sufficient. I don't want to read here all this fan-shit ..! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 188.154.17.23 (talkcontribs) 06:02, 1 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Then don't read it. I don't want to hear about the 2012 Olympics, for example. Mcavic (talk) 17:03, 2 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe Lynne and Tessa "operate" the memorabilia shop.

I thought they did. What makes you think otherwise? Xiner 19:03, 19 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
