I fail to see how this meets the criteria for speedy deletion under any guideline, let alone WP:CSD#A3. Could the nominator provide further rationale as to why these lists I created are their target, while thousands of similar lists exist on Wikipedia without such headaches involved? Could Captain Beefheart be considered delta blues? --129.65.228.198 (talk) 19:43, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

T-Model Ford

[edit]

Why isn't T-Model Ford on the list? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 104.129.204.101 (talk) 15:38, 21 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Don't know why - but he is now included. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:13, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mose Allison

[edit]

Why is he on this list? He sang some songs by Delta blues musicians, but not in a Delta blues style. He was a jazz musician and sang in his own distinctive style. Delete Mose Allison from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 01:08, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

He has been removed - sometime ago too. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:14, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jessie Mae Hemphill

[edit]

Why is she on this list? The article about her does not mention Delta blues. Delete her from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 05:01, 28 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

 Done - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:16, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Mississippi Fred McDowell

[edit]

The article about him describes him as a hill country blues musician. Should McDowell be deleted from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 05:17, 1 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Described as part-Delta blues - as per Shadwick (2001) - see the updated article. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:19, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Elder Roma Wilson

[edit]

In the article about him he is described as a gospel musician. Why is he considered a Delta blues musician? SHould Wilson be deleted from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 05:57, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Now removed from this list. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:20, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Johnny Woods

[edit]

In the article about him he is described as a hill country blues musician, not a Delta blues musician. Should Woods be deleted from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 05:59, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Now removed from this list. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:21, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Lead Belly

[edit]

He is best known as a folksinger. He may have played and sang the blues, but was it Delta blues? Should Lead Belly be deleted from this list? Jwicklatz (talk) 06:07, 3 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Now removed from this list. There is nothing in his article about Delta blues, nor could I find a reliable third party source, specifically describing as such. Other editor's comments are welcome! - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:24, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

California delta

[edit]

California has a delta area like the Mississippi one. There also is a lot of blues going on, see for example the annual Antioch Blues Festival, or check sacblues.com.

Almost all wineries have blues bands playing sundays. There really is a living and vibrant blues music scene going on, maybe best portrayed by the Haven Acres jam session, that attracts tons of very talented blues musicians, like Jeremy Norris, the Delta Wires, etc.

Maybe it's about time to include the California delta as well. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Basvossen (talkcontribs) 23:27, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not really relevant to an article pertaining to the Mississippi Delta blues - a very distinct style of blues music. - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:23, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

More cases to ponder

[edit]

Following on from the additions and deletions mentioned above, I am struggling to find sound evidence for the inclusion of Robert Belfour, Junior Kimbrough, Little Freddie King, King Solomon Hill, Mississippi John Hurt, and Sonny Rhodes. All those mentioned are currently listed, but their own articles make little reference to Delta blues, if at all, and sources I have found do not seem to make much of a case for such a description. Other editor's are welcome to comment, particularly if they find some sound, reliable, third party source(s). Thanks, - Derek R Bullamore (talk) 21:39, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
