Richard & Judy / Countdown

[edit]

Richard and Judy are in this list as they featured on the TV during a task. So did the Countdown people, should they be included? AnemoneProjectors (talk) 01:22, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

surely his first claim to fame and really the only reason he got famous is as a footballer? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 176.24.136.251 (talk) 23:47, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"Ages at the time the housemates entered the house"

[edit]

I don't see ages anywhere. Should they be there? 82.141.74.205 (talk) 09:36, 23 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

There is no need for nationality to be included in this page. Just like in any other TV programme, the list of contestants/participants nationality is not listed. Only in List of Big Brother (UK) housemates as they are civilians, but still I see no reason why it should be listed on that page either. ThisIsDanny (talk) 22:10, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@ChristmasCrackers: Re: "Reverted to previous edit. Participating is lightblue, no reason for ridiculous colour change."

Please try to understand why an edit is made before reverting. As noted in my edit summaries, the reason for the change in colour was that there were two similar shades of light blue being used, one for Participating the other for Housemate entered for the second time, which was confusing. Changing one to green is neither controversial nor ridiculous. I also changed the colours for Runner-up and Third place in accordance with MOS:ACCESS as they were of low contrast, meaning that partially-sighted people may struggle to read black text on a dark brown or dark grey background. I also fixed a major layout issue for the second time. In case you and others aren't aware, viewing this page on anything smaller than a 1600px wide monitor, or viewing it at >100%, caused the table to be pushed down the page, as the images to the right clashed. Not everybody uses the same size monitor as you. I replaced an old picture of Jack Dee, which is smaller than a thumbnail, with the new one in the infobox at Jack Dee, so that it's the same width as the other thumbnails. I also changed the weird looking black band in the table to the same colour background as the table headers, removed the unnecessary italics from the colour legend (as well as the full stops), commented out Housemate entered for the third time (as it isn't in use), and changed the Notability of Alex Reid from "Then boyfriend of Katie Price" to "Mixed martial artist", as per the lead of Alex Reid (fighter).

While it was a mistake on my part to move the current housemates to the bottom of the list (putting them in chronological order), and remove the colouring of Housemate entered for the second time (as I thought the colour denoted Participating), the rest of my edits were good faith improvements in accordance with Wikipedia policies. This is a Featured Article, so to have the layout broken, and the colours confusing and counter to MOS:ACCESS, is not acceptable. I've now reverted your revert. Please discuss this if you disagree with those edits. While you may not have understood the reason or extent of my 'ridiculous' edits you should remember to assume good faith before hitting Revert. nagualdesign 06:25, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Then I'll change the colour of "Housemates enter for the second time" to green instead of blue, as blue is the colour we use for multiple different articles across wiki for participating contestants. And the random black band is used to separate the housemates who are currently in the house (participating) from the others. Once a housemate is evicted/walked/ejected etc, they are moved to the bottom of the list. This is the same format as other list of contestant articles across wiki. Fair enough. If other articles also use the 'gold, silver and bronze' with dark gray and brown I suggest that you edit those articles to conform with WP:ACCESS too. I understand why the band is there, the bit I found weird was the black background. Normally when tables contain N/A or similar the background is the same colour as the table headers. This holds for very many articlas, not just Big Brother related ones. nagualdesign 14:12, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to change the grey and brown, I'm not entirely sure on that myself. I know I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! (UK TV series) uses those colours though too. Also the black band is used in every series page of Big Brother, in the nominations tables it's also used to separate. (One recent example: Celebrity Big Brother 20 (UK)) ThisIsDanny (talk) 14:29, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The black band at the top of the Nominations table, just under the headers, is completely redundant. I suppose that's being retained because that's what other BB articles are like, too. I might change them all at once at some point, if I can work out how many articles are involved, though I expect there'd be a lot of pissy editors to contend with if I did. I should add that I don't consider you one of them. Thank you for swapping the green and blue. nagualdesign 14:41, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
