Name

[edit]

We give one source, "Fairy Tales" at Banglapedia: National Encyclopedia of Bangladesh. That article states,

"Perhaps the first collector of Bangla fairy tales was lalbehari dey (1824-1894), who published his English translations of these tales as Folk-Tales of Bengal (1875). Dey was followed ..."

On the other hand, the Banglapedia biography is "Day, Rev. Lalbehari" and uses Day rather than Dey thruout [1]. Both articles use Lalbehari thruout.

According to Project Gutenberg, the 1912 ed. of Folk-Tales of Bengal was published as by Lal Behari Day.

The Banglapedia articles both call him "Lalbehari" rather than Day/Dey for short. We previously used "Lal Behari" most of the time, and I made that universal here, while I tagged some unclear points in section 1, paragraph 1. --P64 (talk) 21:25, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Library of Congress gives variants De, Lal Behari; Lālabihārī De; Lālavihārī De (no Dey), LCCN n80-025702. --P64 (talk) 22:00, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
