It might be worth mentioning the 2012 BBC programme "World's Most Dangerous Roads, Series 2" that showed Ed Byrne and Andy Parsons driving the road all the way to Magadan. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b01kv6nq/Worlds_Most_Dangerous_Roads_Series_2_Siberia/ Andygx (talk) 10:00, 21 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Road today cleanup

[edit]

I've done some rearranging and rewording of this section, as it was unclear and contradictory before. I don't believe the following paragraph adds any value (in 2014), so leaving it here - if it needs to remain then perhaps in the History section?

A 2001 Travel Guide[1] has the following information: Most traffic goes inland from either Magadan or Yakutsk, so the central area is not fully maintained. From December to perhaps May a winter road is maintained. In 1937 the center was realigned. A branch was extended northwest to Ust-Nera and a winter road was built south from there to Kyubume. After that part of the route northeast from Kyubume was no longer fully maintained.

Superflous content?

[edit]

So, 1/4 of the article is about the road and it's history... and the rest is about all the cool and famous westerners that drove on it. Strange? If you ask me it's not just not objective, it's just off-topic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.160.71.215 (talk) 11:58, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Poor quality history section

[edit]

This history section is very poor. The information sounds dubious at best, and sources are obviously lacking. Should the section be removed for now, or are there any reliable sources to the actual history of the highway or its nickname? TheEsb (talk) 07:23, 8 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Death Toll Section

[edit]

The section on death tolls appears to misinterpret the quote in its source, which lists estimates for the death toll entire system of camps in Kolyma rather than an estimate for deaths building the highway specifically. Kolonokavi (talk) 19:37, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
