Stats are LEAGUE ONLY!!!!!!!!!

[edit]

Fellow users,

I don't know if the several infobox edits in this footballer are being made out of ignorance (given that some people that are anonymous are editing for the first time) or just plain vandalism and provocation but, i will only say:

INFOBOX reads VERY CLEARLY: Stats are only those of DOMESTIC LEAGUE!!!!!! That's it, nothing else!!!! Whenever i will see it otherwise, i will revert it, even if i have to do so 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 times!!!

Thank you very much for listening,

Assist Stats

[edit]

Assist stats seem to be in a constant state of flux. Can we please use transfermarkt for this, as their league stats are in line with the OFFICIAL Premier League stats. ESPN Soccernet have different figures to the OFFICIAL Premier League stats, can we not use them please as they clearly use different criteria to the Premier League criteria. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Theconorra (talkcontribs) 17:04, 18 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Journalism degree" in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid

[edit]

I have searched for the Spanish Wikipedia and there is no indication of Mata's 'Journalism' degree in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid at all. There is only one "deportista de honor" by Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. There is also no indication that he is also reading some economics degree. Also, googling reveals that such a claim can only be seen on English websites. Not a single Spanish-langauge website contains the same claim. Therefore it is presumably a myth. Don't know where the origin is though. I suggest remove the corresponding description. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anon J (talkcontribs) 02:05, 27 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No association with Technical University of Madrid

I have searched for the Spanish Wikipedia and there is no indication of Mata's 'Journalism' degree in Universidad Politécnica de Madrid at all. There is only one "deportista de honor" by Universidad Politécnica de Valencia. There is also no indication that he is also reading some economics degree. Also, googling reveals that such a claim can only be seen on English websites. Not a single Spanish-langauge website contains the same claim. Therefore it is presumably a myth. In fact a full-time footballer like Mata who is not based in Madrid(he played in Valencia) will probably have no time in doing any degree. Don't know where the origin is though. I suggest remove the corresponding description. Namely, "He attended Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, where he read journalism. He is also currently pursuing a degree in Business and Advertising." edit re: provisional fee

[edit]

I'm having trouble understanding why my edit regarding the provisional fee that's been agreed and reported by a WP:RS has been reverted without much explanation by Mythical Curse (talk · contribs) [1] and Whall2004 (talk · contribs) [2]. Dylan1312 (talk · contribs) also left a message on my talk page accusing me of not providing a source. Can you explain the resistance here? Mosmof (talk) 21:22, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is that there is no official announcement. The referenced article says "Negotiations ... are at an advanced stage, with the transfer said to be 'almost complete' by sources close to the discussion." This constitutes a rumor. And Wikipedia does not use speculation about future sports deals per WP:NOTCRYSTAL. Hope that helps. —    Bill W.    (Talk)  (Contrib)  — 21:33, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, since it cites an anonymous source, but I'd argue that the provisional fee is *not* speculation. It's something that's happened ahead of a transfer that may or may not happen. Mosmof (talk) 21:43, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
And it looks like it won't matter since all three parties appear to have agreed to a transfer. Mosmof (talk) 21:49, 22 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. It says "subject to the completion of a medical examination and agreement over personal terms." Until the ink's on the contract, he hasn't signed. --Redrose64 (talk) 19:42, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

add Manchester United as current club playing for. Transfer completed, dated: 25/1/2014. According to Manchester United, http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2014/Jan/Juan-Mata-completes-club-record-transfer-to-Manchester-United-from-Chelsea.aspx ...according to Chelsea FC, http://www.chelseafc.com/news-article/article/3638303/title/mata-moves-to-manchester-united ..I hope that's enough evidence as for now. 117.254.130.90 (talk) 22:31, 25 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can't be bothered logging in. The third paragraph of the lede says 'On 15 May 2013, Mata won the UEFA Europa League, joining teammate Fernando Torres to become the first players to have held all four of the Champions League, Europa League, World Cup, and the European Championships simultaneously.'. Can you amend this to read 'On 15 May 2013, Chelsea won the UEFA Europa League; Mata joined teammate Fernando Torres as being the first two players to have held all four of the Champions League, Europa League, World Cup, and the European Championships simultaneously.'

Also the lede should mention somewhere (probably at the end of the 3rd paragraph) that 'On 25 January 2014, Mata joined Manchester United FC for a fee of bla bla bla). Thanks 194.176.105.135 (talk) 08:45, 28 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I may come across as an arse for saying this, but I really don't see why people should do the work for you just because you "can't be bothered logging in". If anything, it probably took you more work to write this message than to make the edit yourself. Lazy bugger. – PeeJay 02:02, 30 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

New image?

[edit]

I know he already has an image for his page but it is fairly low-res. Is it worth putting in a new picture? His new club Western Sydney Wanderers uploaded a video of his press conference under creative commons. Just wondering if it's worth putting in a new one?
