Count of Casa Loja?

[edit]

Where is the source that he was Count of Casa Loja? According to Elenco de grandezas y titulos nobiliarios españoles (2018), p. 238, the title was held after rehabiltation since 1924 by Doña María de la Puente y Soto, since 1949 by her daughter Doña María Immaculada de Peláez y de la Puente (-1991), wife of don José Navarra Morénes (-1974), whose son Don Felipe Navarro Peláez (1936-), succeeded in the title on 16 December 1997, current holder of the title. So, José Navarro was never Count of Casa Loja. Paul Brussel (talk) 10:34, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Paul Brussel! Thank you for your kind message. I was in the same situation as you initially, but seemed to find enough sources to sustain it? [1] [2] [3] [4] although you are right, it was his wife who was Countess of Casa Loja, not him [5] (Spanish Official Gazzette). He would still be the Count of Casa Loja, although not the "7th" just Count consort. Will change that now, thank you! --Cantabrucu (talk) 20:15, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Cantabrucu, I do not think, when your wife is a countess, you are a count as well, or you can call yourself a count, and I have never heard of such a thing like "count consort". This is not how it works in Spanish nobility, which is different to the courtesy titles that wives of a (British) earl or count can have; I don't think prince Philip may call himself king while his wife is the queen. I have never seen such a thing in the literature about (Spanish) titles of women that the spouse can also call himself count, baron, etc. You might have noticed that no other WP but the WP:EN calls him now a count, and in my view: WP:EN is wrong in doing so.
