Craven Scholarship
[edit]The Craven Scholarship at Oxford University is a classical scholarship on the foundation of John, Lord Craven (d. 1648), who also founded the travelling fellowships which bear his name for the study of antiquities. See [1] for the Statutes & Regulations. Several other Craven Scholars are to be found in Wikipedia. DFH 21:06, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- The nearest match I have found in genealogical data is to Craven, John, Lord Craven of Ryton (1610-06-10-c.1650). See [2]. DFH 21:11, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- There is a portrait of him at John, Baron Craven of Ryton. DFH 21:19, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- "John, created by king Charles the first 21 March 1642 baron Craven of Ryton in the county of Salop, which title became extinct at his death." See [3]. So the link should be to Ryton, Shropshire. DFH 21:23, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
- See [4] for a map of Ryton, Shropshire, not far from the modern town of Telford. DFH 21:26, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

N.B. The various sources I consulted today had different years (1648 to 1650) for Lord Craven's death. DFH 21:34, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Published work "Higher Criticism" incorrectly links to topical article
[edit]On the listing under "Published works" for the book "Higher Criticism: Some Thoughts on Modern Theories About the Old Testament," the words "Higher Criticism" link not to an article about the book in question, but instead to the general Wikipedia article on the topic of Historical Criticism. This is an error that should be rectified. Spiritquest (talk) 07:06, 16 April 2023 (UTC)
