White House position

[edit]

I don't have time to add this at the moment, but Fleming has left (or will be leaving) his Commerce Department position and will be transferring to the White House: [1] --1990'sguy (talk) 23:07, 23 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Guy, though you noted Fleming left the Department of Commerce, you removed any reference to his new WH position in the first two paragraphs of the article. Intentional? Unfairnessdoctrine (talk) 18:46, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

HAP3307 adds edit of a decade-old political hit job without context

[edit]

Fleming's COS died September 2009 leading to a natural turnover of staff. An article was written to suggest that meant the congressman was doing a poor job. In fact, his COS died of cancer causing a natural staff turnover. Fleming went on to win 3 reelections over the following decade.[1]EqualRightsToAll (talk) 14:14, 21 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

By his own admission and multiple citations, including official White House records, John Fleming was never given the title "Deputy Chief of Staff." Fleming stating in interviews that his job was "basically Deputy Chief of Staff" is not an official record, nor the standard to which biographical articles are held. While other editors may disagree with the appropriateness of White House choosing to give Fleming the title "Assistant to the President for Implementation and Planning," it was in fact his official title per publicly available White House records. Yes, AP is a rank, and in this case was also used as a title. Constantsusan (talk) 00:56, 8 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
