Carpetbagger is not NPOV

[edit]

The carpetbagger page indicates that carpetbagger is a pejorative term. It's use in this article in reference to Hunt then would violate NPOV. Kohl Gill (talk) 11:28, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I doubt if the term has been applied pejoratively in many years. My objection to it would be that it's not accurate in this case. Hunt was born in South Carolina and had lived in Louisiana for nearly 40 years when appointed by Garfield. By the way, consider more descriptive edit summaries. The canned one you used doesn't let people know what is going on. Wehwalt (talk) 12:26, 26 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have never heard the term used in anything other than a negative sense. Merriam-Webster describes it as "disapproving": https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/carpetbagger Kdammers (talk) 13:23, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Presidency Infobox

[edit]

Shouldn't the Presidency section have an infobox, like the corresponding section on Zachary Taylor's article? (Zachary Taylor#Presidency) TheLegendofGanon (talk) 00:02, 3 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
