You Can Dance as a compilation album.

[edit]

Why You Can Dance album is listed as an compilation album besides a remix album?? All seven songs were remixed exclusively to the album, and are all new. The YCD article says that it's a remixed album too. Also Remixed & Revisited is a remix album and it's included in the right category...--88marcus (talk) 06:24, 16 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It actually is not about a "remix album" or a "compilation album", but about a "major release" and a "limited release". You Can Dance was a major release, that's why it's listed on the same table as The Immaculate Collection and Something to Remember. By the way, I have removed the specific types (EP/boxsets/remix) of those minor releases to avoid confusion. Bluesatellite (talk) 12:53, 30 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dance Mix EP

[edit]

A 1985 "Argentinian" EP apparently called Dance Mix has received a worldwide re-release this year for Record Store Day - is this the same as Madonna Mix, the Venezuelan EP listed in this article? Is this re-release worth mentioning? Source anemoneprojectors 10:52, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yep its the same one actually, thanks for notifying AnemoneProjectors :) —IB [ Poke ] 11:40, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Some of my finds:

  • "Madonna True Blue, Original Irish Gold Record"[1]
  • "Like A Prayer (Rare Official Mexican Warner Music Mexico In-house 'doble disco de oro' double GOLD and 'disco de platino' PLATINUM sales award disc issued to commemorate album sales in excess of 450,000 copies in October 1992 and presented to Madonna". [2]
  • "A realy stunning and official Dutch NVPI award with the Gold (status) Seal for the single "Into the Groove" and the Platinum (status)"[3] - official is mentioned in the title however I did not find it in the NVPI database, but database is missing the year 1985.
  • Sales report in Turkey: “Two years ago, legitimate sales of Madonna singles were 3,000. Last year we sold 300,000…” November 12, 1988 [4]

+ Israel - Platinum record for "Something to remember" presented to Fred Demann for recognizing 40,000 units sold [5]

World Sales Numbers

[edit]

It’s interesting how you look at other artists on Wikipedia pages and they have greatly inflated numbers whereas Madonna’s keeps changing because people keep lowering the numbers incorrectly and Wikipedia allows that. She has sold over 400 million albums and singles. I would truly appreciate it if Wikipedia updates this and showcases her large numbers of record breaking sales. 24.228.89.34 (talk) 17:36, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You are absolutely right! Her sales numbers are way more than this wikipedia page has reported. I know True Blue sold over 20 million copies in the U.S. alone. They are all incorrect! I wish someone would fix this. Take care ✌️ 24.14.68.76 (talk) 07:48, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Sales numbers need to be updated

[edit]

The sales numbers for Madonna's albums are very old. One example is her True Blue album which sold over 20 million copies. I could go on but you get the picture. Someone please fix this page. Thank you! ✌️ 24.14.68.76 (talk) 07:43, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
