This page should not be deleted for being about an unimportant subject. Many of Wylie's works were adapted into films and several have their own articles on Wikipedia. --Sobekneferu (talk) 07:25, 1 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Role in Suffragette movement

[edit]

Added detail which confirms notable status in the British suffragette movement, and also supports the information on her alleged lesbian relationships. Atkinson 2018 citation used however required correcting some dates e.g. return to England was in 1911 not 1914, and further detail about her father's life and divorce.

Nationality

[edit]

Does settling in Hollywood and then moving to New Jersey make her American? Is there any evidence that she took US citizenship? 76.14.122.5 (talk) 19:28, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Absent any discussion here, I took a look at some of the refs and could not find anywhere that referred to her as American, so I'm taking that out of the article 76.14.122.5 (talk) 01:46, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Did she live then die in America, where she is buried, from 1917 to 1959 ie. 42 years or 58% of her entire life? I think according to MOS:CONTEXTBIO we need to say American it would be strange not to include it. She could not have lived in America for 42 years without being a citizen, or permanent resident. -- GreenC 03:05, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

All that may well be true, but do we have reliable sources to substantiate that claim? 76.14.122.5 (talk) 05:25, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is no "claim" really. She lived in the USA for 42 years is known. It's WP:COMMONSENSE she had to have at least a permanent residency. The USA is where most of her notability exists. It would be strange and distorted to exclude it. -- GreenC 14:10, 11 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
