What exactly is ice canoeing?

[edit]

I found this article to be a little incomplete. I'm still wondering what exactly ice canoeing is. Can someone knowledgeable please expand this article and explain? Is it canoeing through water with floating ice bergs? Sliding a canoe across a frozen lake using some means of propulsion? I'm curious as to what it actually is and how its done. Thanks! Name of article

[edit]

Should the name of this article be changed from "ice canoe" to "ice canoeing"? It would then match similar articles, i.e., Canoeing, Whitewater canoeing, Outrigger canoeing, etc.

Or make it match canoe? You're right though maybe the article is more about the sport than the boat. --Cornellier (talk) 22:57, 29 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
It really does seem to be more about the sport of ice canoeing, rather than the canoe itself. Do you want to move the article to "ice canoeing", or should I? Regards, 23:41, 29 December 2012 (UTC)
I'll do it now. --Cornellier (talk) 00:25, 30 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

wrong title

[edit]

the translation of french "canot" is not "canoe", but "ark", or in this case rather "boat". as one can see when watching the races, the boats are not paddled but rowed. they even have moving seats which is unheard of in paddle boats or canoes. i suggest the sport should be called "ice rowing" in english. any other suggestions?Sundar1 (talk) 12:44, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
