Polish or Jewish

[edit]

Why Chaim_Rumkowski is Polish and Yitzhak Zuckerman is Polish Isreali? Is Wikipedia state of mind or encyclopedia? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.47.140.232 (talk) 07:50, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Yitzhak Zuckerman" in English

[edit]

... is the widely recognized spelling, supported by such major English-language reference publications as the Encyclopaedia Judaica, the Encyclopaedia of the Holocaust, and publications of his works in the USA. Both his native Yiddish and adopted Hebrew are not written in Latin letters. Furthermore, the Polish spelling in the English-language Wikipedia can hardly be appropriate for an individual whose identity was primarily Jewish rather than Polish, and who from his youth was involved in Zionist activism, helped many hundreds of Polish Jews to leave and encouraged thousands more. I intend to perform a Move to Rename, as soon as I can confirm the appropriate mechanism since this article had a previous name change (with no supportive justification provided) and I don't want to lose any information from previous edits. -- Deborahjay 22:05, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
