Notability

[edit]

"IBAT College Swords was awarded the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants' (ACCA) gold quality standard." What is this and what does it mean? Theresa Knott | token threats 22:02, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Update of courses

[edit]

Good afternoon,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) - the company that owns IBAT College Dublin; my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIs).

I am requesting the removal the following sentence (as it is no longer accurate): "As of 2018, IBAT Dublin offers two part-time Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degrees in Sports Management and Development and in International Business"

These are no longer offered by the school, you'll note they are removed from the website: https://www.ibat.ie/courses.html

Can we please replace this with: "As of 2019, IBAT Dublin offers a part-time and full-time Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degrees in Business."

This can be sourced to the following: https://www.ibat.ie/courses/degree-business-full-time-undergraduate-ireland.html https://www.ibat.ie/courses/degree-business-part-time-undergraduate-ireland.html

  • Done, although the whole paragraph required copyediting to make sense of the change and to update the validating bodies. Your suggested sentence could not be simply parachuted "as is" into the article with no other changes. Voceditenore (talk) 15:11, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Online Courses for Essential Workers

[edit]

Good afternoon,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) – the company that owns IBAT College Dublin (IBAT); my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIS).

I am requesting that the following sentence be added to the end of the ‘Academic programmes’ section: “In April 2020, IBAT College Dublin offered fully funded online courses to essential workers to assist those whose employment had been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.” [1]

Any advice and insights from Editors is appreciated. MsAttempt (talk) 11:27, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

no Declined: Please provide an independent source to support this change and outline its notability. Not everything the college is necessarily notable. Donna Spencertalk-to-me 04:56, 12 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I completely concur with Donna Spencer. This is simply PR trivia, suitable for the college's website, but not here. Literally dozens of colleges and universities are offering free online courses, and far more prestigious ones than this college. There is nothing noteworthy about this. New Principal

[edit]

Good afternoon,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) – the company that owns IBAT College Dublin; my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIs).

I would like to request the following sentence be added to the history section:

“In August 2020, Joe Gorey was appointed as principal for IBAT College Dublin.” [1]

References

  1. ^ Owen, Julian. "IBAT College Dublin appoints new principal". University Business. Retrieved 5 August 2020.

Could the principal also be added to the information box?

With thanks,

I've added it to the infobox, but is it really a notable enough event to be added to History? How many principals has the college had? -- Fyrael (talk) 20:00, 9 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
My opinion is that the infobox is sufficient. Time will tell if the appointment merits a mention under History—better to wait than have the section be cluttered with "In 20XX, the company acquired XYZ Inc" type events. Closing the request. Altamel (talk) 05:46, 11 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Revision of Directors

[edit]

@Gazdaz:

Good afternoon,

I am employed by Global University Systems (GUS) – the company that owns IBAT College Dublin; my Conflict of Interest (please see my Talk Page for all COIs).

I’ve noted that you’ve made revisions to the directors on the IBAT page and listed Professor Maurits van Rooijen and Valerie Mahon as directors. From my understanding, Professor Maurits is Chairman and non-executive director of IBAT College Dublin. However, I do not believe that Valerie Mahon holds a directorship in the college. Please could you provide a reference to where this information comes from.

With thanks, Mstechvision (talk) 14:45, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Mstechvision. I was also puzzled by the addition of so-called "Directors" to the infobox. Valerie Mahon is simply a director of IBAT Ltd. The holding company for the school [2]. She has nothing to do with running the school itself. Ditto Maurits van Rooijen, an employee of GUS who is listed variously as a director, rector, etc. of virtually every institution GUS owns but has nothing to do with the actual running of those schools. I have removed the "Directors" field from the infobox completely. It is misleading and inappropriate for an educational institution. Voceditenore (talk) 11:11, 25 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
